About TakeHomeWorld

Updated 2026-11-05

TakeHomeWorld is a set of free calculators for pay, tax and workplace entitlements, one folder per country: Australia, New Zealand and India so far. Every calculator runs in your browser and shows the formula, the rates and the official source behind its result.

What we do

Each calculator answers one question: what reaches your bank account from a salary, how much tax an employer should withhold, what you will owe or get back at the end of the year, or how much leave or redundancy pay you are owed. Each page explains how the result is worked out, gives a worked example produced by the calculator itself, and lists the key figures it uses with their source and the date we checked them.

One engine runs every country. The rules differ (Australia's income year starts on 1 July, New Zealand's on 1 April), but every country folder follows the same standard: rates from primary sources, tests against official reference tables, and a public rate register.

How we keep the numbers right

Rates, thresholds and formulas come from primary sources only: the Australian Taxation Office, the Fair Work Ombudsman and the Federal Register of Legislation for Australia; Inland Revenue and Employment New Zealand for New Zealand; and the Ministry of Finance, India Post, EPFO, PFRDA, CBDT, CBIC and state notifications for India. We test the calculators against the tables those bodies publish, for example every point in the ATO's withholding sample data and rows of Inland Revenue's IR340 and IR341 PAYE tables. The Methodology page has the full rate register.

What we are not

We are not a tax agent, accountant, employer, lawyer or financial adviser, and nothing on this site is advice. Results are estimates for the cases each calculator covers. For decisions with legal or tax consequences, confirm with the official source linked on each page or a registered professional.
