GST calculator for Australia

GST in Australia is 10%, so the GST in a GST-inclusive price is one-eleventh of it: $110 includes $10 of GST on a $100 price.

Enter any amount to add GST to it or take GST out of it.

How it's worked out

Adding GST: price × 10% = GST; price × 1.1 = total. Removing GST: total ÷ 11 = GST; total ÷ 1.1 = price before GST. Amounts are shown to the cent; on tax invoices, round GST to the nearest cent.

Worked example: $110 including GST

Taking GST out of a $110 price:

ResultAmount
Price excluding GST$100.00
GST at 10%$10.00
Price including GST$110.00

Frequently asked questions

How do I work out GST from a GST-inclusive price?

Divide the price by 11. For $550 that is $50 of GST and a $500 price before GST.

How do I add GST to a price?

Multiply by 1.1. A $200 price becomes $220, of which $20 is GST.

When does a business have to register for GST?

When its GST turnover is $75,000 or more ($150,000 for non-profits). Taxi and ride-sourcing drivers must register whatever their turnover.

Is everything taxed at 10%?

No. Some items are GST-free (most basic food, some health and education) and some are input-taxed (such as residential rent and most financial supplies).

Is this tax advice?

No. Results are estimates from the published ATO and Fair Work rules for the cases the calculator covers. Your own circumstances can change the result; check with the ATO, Fair Work or a registered tax agent before you rely on a figure.
