How it's worked out

Federal tax and Yukon tax are each worked out on taxable income (your income less the enhanced CPP contributions and RRSP deductions) using the 2026 brackets, then reduced by non-refundable credits at the lowest rate: the basic personal amount, base CPP contributions, EI premiums and, federally, the Canada employment amount. Yukon also gives its own employment amount credit. This is the CRA's T4127 method, used by its payroll calculator and tables.
