Month ends and leap years
Adding one month to 31 January lands on 28 February (29 in a leap year). People born on 29 February usually celebrate on 28 February in non-leap years.
Inclusive vs exclusive counting
From 1 to 31 January is 30 days exclusive or 31 days inclusive. Notice periods and leave policies often count inclusively — check your policy.
Decimal hours
Convert minutes to decimal by dividing by 60: 8 h 30 min = 8.5 h. Payroll usually multiplies decimal hours by the hourly rate.
