Frequently asked questions

Does the employer match VPF?

No. VPF is only your money; the employer's contribution stays at 12% of wages.

Is VPF interest tax-free?

Interest on your total employee contributions (EPF + VPF) above ₹2.5 lakh a year is taxable, which reduces VPF's appeal for high contributions.

VPF vs PPF?

VPF currently earns 8.25% vs PPF's 7.1%, but PPF interest is fully tax-free with a ₹1.5 lakh yearly limit, and VPF money is locked to your EPF withdrawal rules.
